About
Whether the Hohm Tech Life 4 18650 battery is right for you depends on one thing: whether its ratings match the mod you already own. At Puff'Dis, HohmTech has one product, the Life4 18650. It's a rechargeable cell for devices that take removable 18650 batteries, and it's listed at $13.99. It contains no nicotine and no e-liquid. The figures in its name are the cell's size format (18650) and two of HohmTech's ratings (3015mAh and 22.1A).
The Life4: one HohmTech cell in our hardware range
Hohm Tech International makes lithium-ion cells in several sizes, from 18650 up to 26650. The Life4 is one of its 18650 models, so it only replaces or adds to the cells in a device built for that format. It is not a device or a pod. HohmTech says the Life4 is "designed to feed power-hungry devices without having to swap batteries every other minute."
Reading 18650, 3015mAh and 22.1A
Each figure in the product name tells you something different about whether the cell fits your device.
- 18650 is the cell size format. The Life4 only fits devices built for 18650 cells.
- 3015mAh is HohmTech's capacity rating. Capacity is how much charge the cell holds, so it affects how long you can go between charges.
- 22.1A CDR is HohmTech's continuous discharge rating. CDR is the current a cell is rated to deliver on a sustained basis.
HohmTech also lists what changed from the previous version. It says wattage output is up 5% to 63W, amperage is up 6.8% to 22.1A CDR, and capacity is up 7.4% at loads above 15A.
Matching the 22.1A rating to your mod
Compare the current your mod draws with the Life4's 22.1A CDR. A mod pulls more current from its cell when you ask it for more power, so a higher wattage setting means a higher draw. On an unregulated device, where the cell feeds the coil directly, a lower-resistance coil also pulls more current. Before you buy, check your mod's documentation or its manufacturer for the battery type and cell rating it calls for.
HohmTech also publishes a 31.5A figure, but it is measured at an 80°C cut-off and is not a continuous rating. The FAQ below explains which number to use.
HohmTech says the Life4's chemistry uses QSP (quad stripping process), which it states delivers greater voltage-sag resistance. Voltage sag is the drop in a cell's output voltage while it's under load.

Recognising a genuine HohmTech cell
HohmTech marks the Life4 with an embossed "Ohm" top. It calls this an anti-counterfeit feature meant to stop knock-offs and clones, and says every cell it makes carries a proprietary embossed marking for authenticity. When your Life4 arrives, check for the raised "Ohm" marking on the top of the cell.
