Where 5 mg/mL sits under Canada's 20 mg/mL maximum

Canada's Nicotine Concentration in Vaping Products Regulations (SOR/2021-123) set a maximum nicotine concentration of 20 mg/mL for vaping products manufactured or imported for sale in Canada. The same regulations also prohibit packaging and selling vaping products if the concentration shown on the package is higher than that. At 5 mg/mL, the Crystal 10K is at one quarter of the federal maximum.

Nicotine labels don't all use the same unit. Some give concentration as weight by volume (mg/mL, meaning milligrams of nicotine per millilitre of liquid) and others give it as a percentage. The regulatory text reports Health Canada survey results that treat 20 mg/mL and 2% as the same figure. On that basis, 5 mg/mL works out to 0.5%. A label reading 5% means 50 mg/mL, which is ten times the concentration of this line.

If the disposables you've used before were labelled at 20 mg/mL, the Crystal 10K is a different strength. Check the mg/mL figure on each listing instead of assuming it matches other disposables.
